Take your mask off. Breathe

"Vanity, definitely my favourite sin"

Photo AlbumMar 1, '08 11:12 AM
for everyone
Booked tickets for the first day that the Singapore Flyer's open to public (1st Mar 08). I haven't tried the London Eye yet, but I wanted to compare with the Taiwan Mo Tian Lun.

Surprisingly very little crowds, probably due to it being a rainy and overcast day. Bright side is, we pretty much had the cabins to ourselves.

Conclusion? I am pleasantly surprised at the view, and fairly proud as a Singaporean to have this world-class standard tourist attraction that features the best of our Singapore skyline. Unfortunately because it was a rainy and overcast day, my camera didn't do justice to the views I saw.

I will definitely take the ride again once the IR is up. And probably another time during night time to enjoy the night scenery.

It costs $29.50 per person. Is 37 mins too long a ride? Nope! Time passes fast as you try to identify prominent landmarks, speculate and visualise the future IRs, F1 route etc. Not to mention taking many many photos. It also moves so smoothly that we thought it'd stopped, only to realise that the view is different every few minutes.

It is more worthwhile than the Taiwan one because of the variety of views: there's the sea view, the "future projects under construction" view, the multitude of HDB blocks in the horizon, the Marina Bay condos, lush greenery of golf course, etc etc.

If I put myself in the shoes of a tourist, I would be very impressed by the fantastic view and rising developments.

How to get there: When you reach suntec city roundabout, get out of the Temasek Ave exit, and you'll pass by Millenia Walk. Keep going in the direction you spot the flyer at - can't miss it. Don't park at Millennia Walk. Sg flyer has its own 2 storey high carpark. It costs $7.20 for 3 hours thereabouts.

NICE!! did you dad take home video?
anyway the fish cost about 2.50ish if you buy in bulk, let me know if you're interested. forgot the scientific name for it, its just some algae eating fish. over-hyped la.
tippiny wrote on Mar 2, '08
Really? So it doesn't really eat the dead skin away? Lol, this time he didn't take home video cos he forgot to take dvd with him, muahaha

apparently it does more then eat away dead skin.
found this online, chim.

Garra Rufa has been known for over four hundred years as Doctorfish. In normal environments the fish feed on small organisms that live in these thermal waters and they have became scarse.

This is how the discovery has been made that the healing structure of the micro-peeling process by Garra Rufa helps healing Psoryasis, Neurodermitis and excemes.

While the treatment of nibbling the fish exude an enzym called dithranol (anthralin) which prevents fast developments of cells from the skin, therefore preventing Psoryasis.

Ohhh regen of new cells - sounds more like it then. I have eczema lor, saw a doctor at the polyclinic the other time, she showed me hers, and said that it occurs especially if the person is stressed. But then some people just have more sensitive skin. Sian.

Any idea if the fish is hard to maintain? Die easily?

max size 14cm. omg would you want something that size to nibble on ur feet? hahaa
from the description, should be quite a hardy fish. just get a big tube, some simple filtration and you're good to go. just feed some sinking wafers once in awhile.
tippiny wrote on Mar 2, '08
Lol!! I saw pictures of Qian Hu Fish Spa from someone's blog - The fish are definitely bigger than the Kenko Fish Spa one. And cheaper! Half hour $10 only. If book in like 15 people at one shot, cost only $7 for 45min. Wu yia bo! I am going to do this like every week. Or buy back and do every day. Goodbye, dry flaky scales!
purpaliciouz wrote on Mar 2, '08
this is a good shot :)

Yalor, 1st of Mar supposed to be official day open to public, but the crowds were quite dismal (good for us cos half empty cabins). They made us think all the tickets sold out, that's why I booked online last year. I think on Vday and before 1st of Mar they also had some VIP previews and events already. Anyway quite alot of people have gone up before us :D
tippiny wrote on Mar 3, '08
Yalor lucky now these kind of clothes in fashion, hide my big tummy
tippiny wrote on Mar 3, '08
Thanks thanks, I was quite upset about the gloomy skies. Sigh
tippiny wrote on Mar 3, '08
True, I think that's how their generation scrimp and save through hard work as well. Lol, if it's me my company might probably go bust: "Oh, fetch workers so early ah, ask them take cab lah, ERP, nevermind I pay I pay, I go back sleep liao ah." One day $20 cab fare x 30 days = "Oh my god a trip to Macau!" Lol. Jialat I'm starting to plan for another trip liao :D
tippiny wrote on Mar 3, '08
Currently only Kampong Fish Spa at Thomson Road has full body. But my mom was whispering to me, won't it be very funny, especially if the fish go and attack your lower body? Even if wear undies like for normal bath spas, but what if....... Lol.

Should ask my cousin about it..she's working there.=p She said it's crowded n need to queue one leh... hopefully when i go that time will be no crowds like u here...
autumnjune wrote on Mar 3, '08

autumnjune wrote on Mar 3, '08
i see.. time is the ruling factor..hopefully by 10pm...there's no crowds

ambidexter wrote on Mar 3, '08
yes! im thinking of keeping fish in my room but still reading ard..
keeping this kind will be multifunctional! if can get the 14cm kind that will nibble at my feet one also super cool!! omg the psychotic side of me is prevailing again!
tippiny wrote on Mar 4, '08
No need print out, if you book online they will send the actual tickets to your address. But when I was there last Saturday, plenty of people were buying tickets at the booth itself. Hmmm, maybe crowds nearer to the evening wanna sunset or something? Cos about 5pm after our spa, it was like "wah so many people liao"
tippiny wrote on Mar 4, '08
Lol, Jiaming is grounded becos of B Project or becos her mama don't wanna "fang ren"? I think you mentioned before she doesn't like you to take long holidays cos of restaurant right
tippiny wrote on Mar 4, '08
Nolah, I also don't go spa all that very often. This one is because I'm sick of my fish scale legs and 50 cents!!

really... we booked the 25th March...still no tickets in the mailbox leh..gancheong liao!

Won't lah, I always tell myself "There are no boring places, only boring people." I think you are also the type to find joy wherever you are.

Good idea to take short trip ah. If Bintan can try Bintan Agro Resort for reaaaaally laid back (not much seasports), Nirwana Resort for more sea sports. Problem with your line and my line is, when people have weekends and public hols we are the busiest lor. Maybe you take Sunday and Monday (Sunday morning go, Monday evening back) she may still be fine with it leh?

ambidexter wrote on Mar 4, '08
not sure abt ur problem but i used to have lots of scars on my legs as i was very rough when i play in the jungles at my ahma's kampung when young, a lot of mozzie bites too. then ppl say sea water heals so i often go to the beach n soak myself in the sea, even tapau the water back in a pail! condition largely improved after some time. i wonder if its really the sea salt water that helps. then again imagine the pollution in the sea! ;p
ambidexter wrote on Mar 4, '08
bo fish prawn also good. why not we go bintan next weekend? or u wanna go wif ur hubby only...
autumnjune wrote on Mar 5, '08
anyone wants to go is okay one...ehmm just dun bunk in with us at night loh..=p We plan to go on 15th sat evening then return sunday evening..you want to join?? Tiffany want or not???
ambidexter wrote on Mar 6, '08
lol. amazing, my words are so zhun! shucks ive got no passport im the one grounded!
tippiny wrote on Mar 6, '08
Jiaming: Lol mai lah, go and be lightbulb meh. Haha. It's a good idea to get away, take a boat ride and get fresh air and nice beach. Enjoy!!

Laciie: How can a travel buff not have a valid passport leh. Don't procrastinate liao!
ambidexter wrote on Mar 6, '08

Thanks for bringing us through yr s'pore flyer journey.... I think I may do the night ride first. When IR is up, then take the day ride... not too sure whether this is a good idea :P
mystique0811 wrote on Mar 24, '08
Haha.... Why you stand so far? Did he know you were behind?
tippiny wrote on Mar 24, '08
Haha he didn't lor, I just spoilt his "view" of the outside scenery. I also will take the ride again when IR up - it's really a different feeling being in the midst of the city and looking down from high up. I never felt inclined to go up on the DHL balloon cos most people say view so-so only, but the SG Flyer views are quite surprisingly good!
leocs wrote on Mar 31, '08
wow. the camera can really zoomed. Costa Rhu was pretty oustanding among that cluster of residential buildings there.

i'm going to bring my mum to this fishy therapy thingy. worth the try?
tippiny wrote on Apr 1, '08
Ya! Super worth it. The funny thing is, my dad went to buy 10 fishes at $12 each, and he forgot and added water straight from the tap. All 10 fishes died the very next day. Oops.
leocs wrote on Apr 1, '08
that's $120 gone. =X

I took a ride too and noticed that there were many empty capsules. I don't believe that the Singapore Flyer is "3-months fully booked"! What a bad marketing gimmick! I don't enjoy the ride after 5 mins into the sky. Boring .......... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
tippiny wrote on Apr 4, '08
Yeah, that's what I read in the papers that caused me to go book a ticket for the very day it was due to open to the public. Hmmm, I don't agree that it's boring. After all, there are no boring places, only boring people, yeah? :)
